Lifestyle Article - Hymans Robertson appoints David Walker as CIO


Hymans Robertson has appointed David Walker to the role of Chief Investment Officer (CIO), taking over from Andy Green. David has worked at Hymans Robertson for the last 19 years. Over that time, he has advised many private and LGPS funds across the whole range of investment services and was responsible for developing our strategic investment services and for public sector clients. He has also been part of the Research Oversight Group and is Head of our LGPS Investment services.

 Commenting on his new appointment, David Walker, Chief Investment Officer comments says: “I am thrilled to be taking on this role at such an exciting time for our firm and yet a challenging one for the wider world. Investment is at the heart of all financial strategy and in this current Covid environment, the expertise and insight we offer will be essential for our clients as they navigate unpredictable, and choppy, economic waters over the next few years. As we diversify as a firm into new markets, such as retail investment, I look forward to the challenges and opportunities that will also bring.”

 Commenting on what David brings to the role Anthony Ellis, Head of Investment: “David brings a great deal of investment and client consulting experience to this role, at a time when our investment business is growing successfully and continuing to broaden the reach that we have achieved over recent years. Andy has played a key part in delivering this growth as our CIO and David as his successor will bring vast amount of investment expertise as he takes on this new mantle. He will work closely with Andy in his new role as chair of the investment services committee, as well as our Capital Markets and Research teams, to continue to provide excellent research and market insight to all of our investment business areas.”

 Andy will be moving to chair the Hymans Robertson investment services investment committee, particularly looking at the newer areas into which the firm is diversifying to expand the reach of investment services beyond traditional pensions. He has been instrumental in building Hymans Robertson’s retail and wealth investment views over the last 8 years his role as CIO.
