Investment - Articles - Pension Protection Fund publish July PPF 7800 Index Update


Since July 2007 the Pension Protection Fund has published the latest estimated funding position, on a s179 basis, for the defined benefit schemes in its eligible universe.

 The PPF 7800 index is published on the second Tuesday of every month, and the PPF publishes The Purple Book each year. 

 July 2018 Update

 
 Highlights

 The aggregate deficit of the 5,588 schemes in the PPF 7800 Index is estimated to have decreased over the month to £85.6 billion at the end of June 2018, from a deficit of £94.0 billion at the end of May 2018. ?

 The funding level increased from 94.5 per cent at the end of May 2018 to 94.9 per cent. ?

 Total assets were £1,606.9 billion and total liabilities were £1,692.5 billion.

 There were 3,633 schemes in deficit and 1,955 schemes in surplus.
