Investment - Articles - Barnett Waddingham acquires Risk Evolves

Barnett Waddingham (BW) have announced the acquisition of specialist risk advisory firm Risk Evolves, strengthening its Risk and Resilience offering and accelerating business growth.

The move represents a strategic enhancement of BW's risk capabilities, enabling the leading professional services consultancy to offer clients deeper advisory services in cyber security, data privacy, environmental, social & governance, and compliance. BW and Risk Evolves, known for their practical, client-centric risk advisory services, have already collaborated on several high-profile projects, making the acquisition the next step of an established partnership.

The move will see a seven-strong team from Risk Evolves join BW to create a bolstered offering creating unique benefits for clients, including:
 • Investment in BW's comprehensive risk management and security support, helping organisations identify vulnerabilities across cyber, data privacy, environmental and social (ES) factors, and health & safety, while preparing for diverse threats through risk assessments, incident response planning, and supply chain risk reviews.
 • Stronger governance, risk, and compliance capabilities with practical support to meet regulatory obligations across all risk domains, embedding proportionate, right-sized compliance frameworks tailored for each client's sector, size, and structure.
 • Greater business continuity and resilience planning to prepare for any form of disruption, including business continuity planning, crisis response frameworks, and leadership workshops.
 • Enhanced specialist training and behaviour change programmes, from cyber awareness and data privacy training to health & safety, environmental compliance, and executive risk coaching, supporting teams to embed a comprehensive risk-aware culture that reduces real-world exposure across all business areas.

Barnett Waddingham Partner and Head of Risk and Resilience Services, Harshil Shah, said: "This strategic move cements BW’s credentials as a leading professional services consultancy that helps clients make better decisions around strategy, operations and people; by leveraging our risk, resilience and data analytics expertise. Risk Evolves has been a trusted partner for several years, and this move formalises and strengthens that relationship. Our clients will benefit from continuity of service while gaining access to our combined award-winning expertise."

Helen Barge, Founder and Managing Director of Risk Evolves, who has joined BW as Principal and Senior Risk and Resilience Consultant, added: "Barnett Waddingham has a first-class reputation within the risk industry; the firm is well known for building strong, long-term relationships based on collaboration and trust. What particularly attracted us to BW was the alignment of our values; we both prioritise client-centric service, integrity in everything we do, and a genuine commitment to helping organisations build resilience. I am proud to be joining the business with my other Risk Evolves colleagues."
