Investment - Articles - CBI comments on Barnier speech on Solvency II

The CBI today commented on a speech by Commissioner Barnier at the Insurance Europe Conference in Amsterdam, on reforms to the insurance industry and their impact on infrastructure investment.
Rhian Kelly, CBI Director for Business Environment policy, said:

"It's good to hear Commissioner Barnier recognising the important role insurers have to play as long-term investors in infrastructure. The insurance sector will be critical to funding much-needed upgrades to our infrastructure both in the UK and across Europe.

"The European Commission must ensure that it makes commercial sense for insurers to invest in infrastructure, including BBB grade assets."
