The Co-operative Insurance has created a new role on its product team to develop its Young Driver motor insurance proposition.
Amy Kilmartin has been appointed as Product Manager at the Manchester-based company, and will be responsible for evolving The Co-operative's innovative telematics scheme aimed at young motorists.
The Co-operative was the first major insurer to offer a telematics product for young drivers when it launched in March last year.
Amy joins the team from her former role as product manager at Asda's financial services arm. She said: "This will be an exciting, challenging role with the opportunity to shape a product that is part of a car insurance revolution.
"Young Driver was the first product of its kind when it entered the market and my aim is to keep it fresh and innovative so that it continues to appeal to young motorists and their parents.
"Already we're seeing that customers with a Smartbox are involved in fewer accidents than those without one, which has real potential for reducing premiums for the young driver market as a whole and in making our roads safer. There's a long way to go before telematics is seen as the ‘norm' in car insurance, but with more and more insurers now developing similar schemes, we think this is on the way to becoming a reality."
