General Ins - Latest News - Comment on referral fees from Andrew Torrance of Allianz

"Allianz fully supports the Government's decision for an outright ban on the payment of referral fees in personal injury cases - a move I have long advocated. Nevertheless, this is only a first step in addressing the UK's compensation culture and thereby making motor insurance premiums more affordable for our customers. The next two steps which should be taken are to reduce the legal fees payable on small personal injury claims from £1200 to £350 and to change the burden of proof in whiplash claims so that claimants need to demonstrate a real physical injury in order to win compensation."

 Andrew Torrance, CEO, Allianz Insurance
