Friends Life today announces the enhancement of coverage on a number of its critical illness (CI) policies. Changes include coverage on new conditions, enhanced ABI+ definitions and the removal of restrictions on pay-outs linked to terminal illnesses.
New conditions
From today, customers will benefit from the addition of four new conditions to the Protect+ offering. The new conditions covered are Sudden Cardiac Arrest, Pituitary Tumour, Cerebral Arteriovenous Malformation and Cerebral Aneurysm. A new condition, Childs Hydrocephalus, has also been added for children.
Sudden Cardiac Arrest will be eligible for a full payment up to 100% of the sum assured whilst the other conditions will be eligible for partial payment.
In addition, Ulcerative Colitis has been enhanced from a partial to a full payment.
Definitions enhanced
Three conditions have also been enhanced to ABI+. These are: Major Organ Transplant, Blindness and TPD. This brings the total number of ABI+ conditions to 17.
Terminal illness payment
Conditions related to terminal illness payments have been improved and payments will now be paid in cases where a terminal illness is diagnosed within 12 months of the end date of the policy.
