Lifestyle Article - Lisa Varley joins Risk Settlement team at Aon

Lisa Varley has joined Aon as a senior consultant in the Risk Settlement team.

Lisa has nearly 10 years’ industry experience and joins Aon from Aviva, where she was a bulk annuity deal manager and led a number of transactions ranging in size and structure from under £1 million to £200 million. Lisa started her career with five years as a consultant with PwC, after gaining a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Sheffield.

Martin Bird, senior partner and head of Risk Settlement at Aon, said: “We estimated that the bulk annuity market in 2021 would eventually reach close to £30 billion and reports from insurers are pointing to a total market volume figure of that order. Aon led on the end-to-end advice, broking and execution of £7.8 billion of those transactions.

“We fully expect the bulk annuity market to be just as busy during 2022, so we are very conscious of the importance of teams having strength in depth to handle high levels of activity. It’s therefore great news that Lisa Varley has chosen to join us as we continue to expand our Risk Settlement team. It’s vital that schemes have access to people with the right knowledge and experience to navigate the challenges of the market and to achieve the best opportunities and outcomes. Lisa has excellent experience, brings additional insights from the insurer side of the market, and I’m sure our clients will soon be benefiting from her advice.”
