General Insurance Article - Michaël De Lathauwer appointed as co-CEO at Cardano

Cardano has today announced the appointment of Michaël De Lathauwer, who will take up the position of co-Group CEO alongside Theo Kocken, founder of the Cardano Group.

Theo Kocken, co-CEO at Cardano Group said:
“Bringing Michaël on board at Cardano represents a significant moment in our development. Since our foundation 15 years ago, Cardano has grown to be a significant player in the areas of risk management and LDI, investment management, investment advisory and pension redesign for pension funds and other institutional investors. Mickey’s background and expertise will help us to further develop our business and the solutions we provide as well allow us to consider international expansion opportunities”.

Michaël De Lathauwer is a Belgian national. Before joining Cardano, Michaël spent his professional career at Goldman Sachs (GS) with postings in London, New York, Hong Kong and Singapore. In the last 6 years of his time at GS he was responsible for the Pension and Insurance Solutions Group, working with institutions across Europe and globally. He left GS in 2013, after 23 years, having been elected a partner in 2002.

Michaël said: “I am very excited about joining Cardano and to be working with recognised industry thought leaders like Theo Kocken and Cardano UK’s CEO Kerrin Rosenberg. Theo, Kerrin and their colleagues have created a truly unique company with a singular aim: introducing sound risk management and investment management to overall pension design, and in doing so creating better outcomes and more robust and stable results for millions of beneficiaries. I am particularly attracted to Cardano’s culture of working with pension plans, sponsors and governments to make for a more resilient financial world and I strongly applaud Cardano’s efforts to broaden financial knowledge and risk management - to emerging markets through Cardano Development and to the world at large through Cardano Education”.

Theo and Michaël will jointly run the Cardano Group. Theo’s focus will be on further innovative content development, research, education and reflection on the design of future pension systems. Michael’s focus will be on business and solution development.
Together with Harold Naus, CEO of Cardano NL and Kerrin Rosenberg, CEO of Cardano UK they will comprise the senior management team of the Cardano Group.
