Lifestyle Article - Paul Waters appointed Chair of Hymans Robertson Foundation

The Hymans Robertson Foundation has appointed Paul Waters as its new Chair. Paul is Head of DC Markets at Hymans Robertson having joined the firm in 2005 and is driven by a passion for delivering better financial outcomes for individuals both at retirement and throughout their lives. As the new Chair, Paul will act as a key bridge between the Foundation and the firm, helping its work to deliver lasting impact for disadvantaged young people and communities throughout the UK.

Paul is currently HRF’s Vice-Chair and will be taking over the role from Gill Tait, who is retiring and has been involved since the Foundation’s inception.

The Foundation was established in 2016 by the leading pensions and financial services consultancy Hymans Robertson, with the aim to support young people and communities across the UK, through long-term partnerships with a trusted network of charities. It receives a proportion of the firm’s annual profits as it continues to deliver lasting impact for disadvantaged young people and communities across the UK.

Commenting on his new role as Chair, Paul Waters, Head of DC Markets, Hymans Robertson, says: “I’m honoured to be taking on the role of Chair at a time when the Foundation’s work feels more important than ever. I’m looking forward to helping young people fulfil their potential, particularly those who are unable to access the opportunities they deserve. The Foundation and our charity partners play a vital role in addressing this, and the bursaries supporting communities around our four offices have already shown how effective targeted, local support can be.

“Gill Tait has made an outstanding contribution over the past ten years, including her four years as Chair. The Foundation’s growth and the milestones it is reaching are a direct reflection of her passion and leadership. Looking ahead, I will be working hard to build on this strong platform and strengthen connections with our clients, creating opportunities to work together to deliver even greater impact.”

Commenting on Paul’s move into Chair, Marcella Boyle, Chief Executive, Hymans Robertson Foundation, says: “Since it was established, the Foundation has invested well over a million pounds in grant funding, working in close partnership with charities supporting disadvantaged young people across the UK. Our charity partners include The King’s Trust, Street Soccer, Money Ready, Barnardo’s and Action for Children, alongside many local charities rooted in their communities.

“Paul shares, and brings, a clear understanding of what makes these partnerships work, long-term commitment, trust and a focus on sustainable impact rather than short-term outcomes. He's bringing new ways of building strong relationships with our charity partners and colleagues across the firm, and as Chair he will help ensure the Foundation continues to deliver meaningful, lasting change for young people and the communities we support.”
