Pensions - Articles - PPF appoints two new non-executive board members

The Pension Protection Fund (PPF) have announced that Alan Jenkins and Tom Joy will be joining its Board as non-executive members.

PPF Chairman, Lady Barbara Judge, said: "I am very pleased to welcome Alan and Tom as members of our board. We are directly protecting 182,000 members, we are expanding our operations by bringing member administration in-house by 2014 and have £15 billion of assets under management. Both Alan and Tom join us at an important time in our development. Their combined experience will help us in continuing to provide security to our members now and in the future."

Alan Jenkins played a pivotal role in establishing Eversheds, where he was Chairman of the Board between 2004 and 2010, as one of the world's largest corporate law firms. He currently holds a number of non-executive appointments including the Financial Ombudsman Service, Crown Prosecution Service, UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) and he is Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Lattitude Global Volunteering and Mencap Trust Company.

He said: "It is a privilege to be part of an organisation that is set to become one of the biggest pension funds in the UK over the next few years. I applaud the work that it has done so far and welcome the opportunity to use my experience and background to support its continued growth, especially in relation to its commitment to member services."

Tom Joy started his career as a graduate trainee at Royal Sun Alliance Investment Management and has since held a variety of different roles at Schroders, including Head of Multi-Manager Investments. He was also Chief Investment Officer at RMB Asset Management and is currently Director of Investments at the Church Commissioners for England.

He said: "I am delighted to be joining the Board of the PPF which plays such an important part in the pensions' world. In these difficult times, it is satisfying and rewarding to have the opportunity to help vulnerable people who might otherwise have lost their pensions if the PPF did not exist."
