Investment - Articles - Rathbones named discretionary company of the year

Rathbones has been named Discretionary Company of the Year at the Investment Week Fund Manager of the Year Awards, held on 7 July 2011.

The award recognises the depth of research of Rathbones' Collectives Research teams as voted for by all fund managers who themselves were short-listed for an award at the event.

Investment professionals from leading UK-based fund management houses were asked by judges to nominate companies whose thorough research and approach to investment manager interviews had particularly impressed them. Rathbones saw off competition from Brewin Dolphin, Brooks MacDonald and Cazenove Private Clients to scoop the top accolade in the Discretionary category.

The Investment Week Fund Manager of the Year Awards celebrates the achievements of UK-based professional investors and fund selectors. As well as the award for Discretionary Company of the Year, individual fund managers across all major asset classes, investment groups and advisory firms were recognised at the event, held at the Royal Albert Hall.

David Coombs, who chairs the Rathbones' Collectives Research Committee said, "This is a tremendous accolade for all of my colleagues who sit in our collective research teams, particularly since it reflects the views of some of the UK's finest investment talent. Given the breadth of the managed funds universe in the UK, thorough research is paramount in helping us unearth those managers who are truly able to deliver alpha. Our interviews with fund managers are a central part of that research process and we aim to commit the same resource to them as the fund managers themselves dedicate to running their portfolios."
