Schroders is today announcing the appointment of Clara Yan who joins in the role of Insurance Asset Liability Management (ALM) Director. Clara will be based in London in Schroders’ Insurance Asset Management team and will be working with Schroders’ insurance clients to develop capital efficient investment solutions. |
Clara joins a team of 15 and will report to Paul Forshaw, Head of Insurance Asset Management. Prior to joining Schroders Clara spent 6 years at the investment banking arm of UBS where she worked with UK and European insurance clients on ALM issues. Previous experience includes a role as Senior ALM strategist at Legal and General, helping to build its ALM model and manage its balance sheet. Clara is a qualified actuary in the UK and Australia and has more than 15 years’ experience in the insurance and pensions industry.
Paul Forshaw, Head of Insurance Asset Management commented:
“Schroders has built a successful insurance solutions business over the past few years by providing the fresh thinking required to overcome the complex regulatory, capital and ALM challenges that insurance companies face in an ultra-low yield environment. Clara has extensive life insurance and investment banking experience. Her ability to understand investment challenges from an insurance company perspective will add value to our dialogue with insurance clients as we broaden and deepen our solutions business.’’
Schroders Insurance Asset Management business is seeing increasing interest from insurance companies for investment solutions that can improve the efficiency of investment portfolios and the quality of the proposition for customers and policyholders. Schroders’ broad-based investment expertise, including particular strength in fixed income and multi-asset; its reputation for innovation, and its specialist understanding of insurance clients’ requirements mean it is well placed to help.
Clara has a BCom in Actuarial Studies from Macquarie University, an MSc in Financial Mathematics from the Cass Business School, and is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries in both the UK and Australia.
