Lifestyle Article - Schroders appoint Tom Binks as Fiduciary Manager

Schroders has strengthened its Fiduciary Management team with the hire of Tom Binks from Willis Towers Watson (WTW).

Tom has been appointed as a Fiduciary Manager, bringing eight years of experience working at an investment consultant to the role, taking Schroders’ overall Investment Solutions specialist team up to 13 people.

This division, which works closely with clients to develop tailored investment solutions for pensions funds and other institutional investors, also constructs long-term de-risking investment strategies or ‘Flight Path’ solutions for Defined Benefit (DB) pensions.

Tom will report into Hannah Simons, Head of Fiduciary Management. He joined WTW in 2009 and, most recently, had been an Assistant Portfolio Manager for fully delegated, DB pension fund portfolios.

Hannah Simons, Head of Fiduciary Management, Schroders, said: “We are pleased to confirm the hire of Tom to the team. His hands-on experience designing investment strategies and practically implementing them will complement our consultative approach. Fiduciary management is a growing area for Schroders and this appointment reflects the importance the business is placing on developing tailored solutions to meet clients’ investment needs.”

In May, Schroders confirmed it had been appointed by Veolia UK Pension Trustees Limited to be the fiduciary manager for their largest defined benefit schemes with a combined asset value of £880 million.

Schroders has also recently pledged its support to a new industry standard, launched by IC Select, which sets out a consistent and transparent reporting framework for fiduciary performance data.
