Articles - Royal London launches ‘The Royal London Foundation'

 Royal London, the UK's largest mutual life and pensions company, is delighted to announce the launch of its own charitable foundation, The Royal London Foundation.

 2011 is a significant year for Royal London as it celebrates its 150th anniversary.  The principles upon which the founders created Royal London are central to the aims of the Foundation, particularly the dedication to helping others improve their futures.

 The Foundation is open for Royal London's members to nominate causes in their local community to receive a grant.  Grants will be awarded to groups who meet the rules of eligibility in any of three core areas:

  •   Education - causes whose objectives are to help develop the skills of people who require assistance and do not otherwise have access to appropriate support;
  •
  •   Elderly - causes which help older people in their daily lives;
  •
  •   Health - causes which provide health and fitness resources which people may not otherwise have access to.

 Members will receive further information within their Annual General Meeting mailing during April.

 Stephen Shone, Group Finance Director of Royal London and the executive sponsor of the Foundation, said:

 "The launch of the Foundation is an important event in this significant year for our company.  We take corporate responsibility seriously and the Foundation provides a terrific opportunity to give something back to our members and the communities in which they live.  With a fund of £2 million available, we are very excited about the potential for it to make a positive difference to communities across the UK."

 Royal London is working with the Community Foundations Network (CFN) to run the Foundation.  CFN is a registered charity which acts as a membership association for community foundations nationwide, negotiating and managing grant-making and fundraising opportunities.  Working with CFN allows Royal London to reach grass roots causes which are making real changes in local communities.
