Prior to joining Allianz Worldwide Partners, Neil was Legal & Compliance Manager for Euler Hermes UK (EHUK), also part of the Allianz Group. There he led the Legal and Compliance function in the UK and Ireland. Prior to that, he spent over seven years as Companies Registration Office Manager & Senior Legal Counsel for the Qatar Financial Centre Authority, which was established as part of the State of Qatar’s drive to make it a world-class business centre.
Neil Travell says of his new role, “This position offers me the scope to harness my expertise in leading the Legal and Compliance team in its support of the UK and Irish business. I aim to ensure the team assists in offering a first rate service to both our internal clients and customers in supporting growth in the UK & Ireland whilst ensuring that we remain compliant with our legal and regulatory obligations.
“In the short term, I will be tackling challenges such as Brexit as well as implementing the new GDPR, IDD and SIMR requirements. Brexit is particularly challenging; we are the sole intermediary in the UK for the French insurer AWP P&C SA (another member of the Allianz family) which currently passports in. We don’t know what will happen post-Brexit and we need to find a solution that will work.
We are looking into the available options with Allianz plc and the PRA. This makes it an exciting time to join a proven global leader andI will lead the Legal & Compliance team in supporting the growth of the business in the UK and Ireland.”
