The solvent restructuring of the Halcrow Group Pension Scheme is a landmark transaction for the pensions industry – only the second of these types of restructurings to have completed and the first where the employer was not already insolvent. The independent trustee of the scheme, and the legal adviser to the trustees throughout, will unpick the mechanics of the project and highlight the wider implications for DB schemes in the wake of the Select Committee report and forthcoming Green Paper.
