Well over 20 Actuaries across Pension’s, Life and Non-Life disciplines dusted down their clubs and bags and made their way to Silvermere Golf & Leisure in Surrey for the 2017 Emerald Group Golf Day on a dry (if a little windy at times) Wednesday in June. Guests were greeted on arrival by Emerald Group representatives to enjoy bacon rolls, coffee and an opportunity to swing the clubs before heading to the 1st tee in groups of 3 and 4 to take on this well laid out and interesting course which was, once again, in excellent condition. |

Around the course was a longest drive on the 5th and 2 nearest the pins on the 12th and 17th. The winning shot on the 17th wasparticularly impressive, landing no more than 6-8 inches from the cup after negotiating the lake between the tee and the green, a truly magnificent strike! The pace of play was strong with the first group returning to the clubhouse not long after 1pm to enjoy B-B-Q platters, a well-deserved drink and an opportunity to network (or possibly commiserate) with fellow Actuaries and Emerald Group representatives.
Shortly before 3pm, with everyone now well fed and watered the prizes were awarded and following that, the more hardy amongst us took the opportunity to play a further 18 holes in the very enjoyable Texas Scramble Format, heading back in just before 7pm for a final drink and food before heading home, exhausted but a great day had by all.
