Life - Articles - Eversheds appoints corporate insurance partner


Eversheds has appointed Hugo Laing as a partner in the firm’s financial services group in the London office. Hugo joins from Clifford Chance on 6 June.

 Specialising in transactional and regulatory work for insurance and reinsurance clients, Hugo has strong knowledge of the life insurance sector and has worked on some of the largest and most complicated bulk annuity and longevity transactions to date.
 
 Hugo's work ranges from corporate insurance transactions such as mergers and acquisitions and Part VII/ portfolio transfers to complicated risk transfer and reinsurance transactions. He has also advised on the full range of regulation and company law applicable to (re)insurance companies with a particular focus, more recently, on Solvency II.
 
 In his role at Eversheds Hugo will focus on growing the corporate insurance offering provided by Eversheds, particularly in the life insurance sector. He will also assist Eversheds' market leading pensions practice in helping to provide complicated and innovative pension de-risking products to defined benefit pension schemes.
