Friends Life's Protection Team to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support by taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge

On 30 June an intrepid team of walkers from the Friends Life Salford Quays office are hoping to complete the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for the company's nominated charity Macmillan Cancer Support.

Nineteen individuals will take part in the challenge, which entails walking 26 miles in total across some of England's toughest peaks in around ten hours.

The team hope to raise £1,900 for Macmillan, which will be added to other monies raised throughout the year. Macmillan Cancer Support provides practical, medical and financial support to people who have been diagnosed with cancer and pushes for better cancer care in the UK. Last year Friends Life employees raised over £40,000 for Macmillan and hope to match this amount or raise more this year.

Kate McDowell is the management sponsor for the Friends Life employees taking part in the challenge and she comments:

"The team are really looking forward to taking on this challenge. It is for a great cause and they hope they can complete it in the given time. I would like to wish the team good luck and if anyone would like to donate please visit our justgiving page."
