Investment - Articles - Gartmore Global Trust PLC becomes Henderson Global Trust plc

Following approval by the Board of Directors, Gartmore Global Trust PLC, managed by Brian O'Neill, today changed its name to Henderson Global Trust plc with the new ticker being ‘HGL'.

This change links the Trust to its new manager Henderson Global Investors, and enables it to enjoy the collective benefit of Henderson's determination to build a strong market brand.

The investment objective remains unchanged, with the Trust seeking long-term capital growth by investing in shares of companies anywhere in the world. The investment trust has a concentrated element where 40 stocks normally represent 80% of the portfolio. Gartmore Global Trust was launched in 1929 and Brian O'Neill, senior investment manager, has led the management since 1983.

Brian joined the Henderson Global Equities team in 2011 following the acquisition of Gartmore. Prior to that, he spent 30 years in the International Equities team at Gartmore. Brain O'Neill comments "the trust is not a best ideas fund but rather one that seeks to deliver risk adjusted returns. If I had to use one line to describe Henderson Global Trust it would be ‘solid performance through the cycle.'"
