Lifestyle Article - Liberty appoint new Head of Casualty


Liberty Specialty Markets (LSM), part of Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, has appointed Stuart Sutherland as its new Head of Casualty.

 Based in LSM’s London headquarters, Stuart will report to Alan Telford, Chief Underwriting Officer – Commercial. Joining in July, he will be responsible for the leadership of LSM’s casualty product line.
 
 Alan Telford said: “Our casualty book is an integral part of our plans to grow and develop our Commercial division. Stuart brings a powerful combination of excellent technical underwriting skills, significant market-facing experience and strong leadership. Having written a successful casualty book, he is uniquely placed to drive our business forward, growing a market-leading position for Liberty.”
 
 Stuart joins LSM from AIG where he was UK Head of Casualty, leading a team of 120 people. Prior to that role, he worked for XL Catlin as UK Regional Casualty Manager. He has over 30 years’ experience in the London insurance market.
