LV= has announced the appointment of Pardeep Bassi to the newly created role of Head of Data Science for General Insurance. He will report to Hugh Kenyon, Personal Lines Pricing Director.

In this new role, Pardeep will be responsible for creating and delivering LV=’s advanced analytics strategy. He will be tasked with identifying new opportunities where machine learning can provide value to the business and will also be responsible for assessing and implementing the appropriate data architecture and systems to deliver the overall strategy.

Prior to joining LV=, Pardeep was Pricing Manager at Domestic & General, the UK’s leading warranty provider, and before that spent four years at Axa.

Commenting on his appointment, Hugh Kenyon said: “Advanced analytics has the potential to transform how we do business which is why it’s crucial that we have a strong strategy in place. Both in his time at Domestic General and Axa, Pardeep led on a number of projects that used data and analytics to enhance the performance of the business, all of which delivered very positive results. As such, I’m very confident that Pardeep will successfully create and implement a strategy which will allow us to take advantage of the latest technological advancements.”

Pardeep added: “There are plenty of opportunities within insurance to do more with advanced analytics but one of the key challenges that companies face is motivating people and the wider business to adopt the newest tools and effectively use them.
