Pensions - Articles - Pension Protection Fund publish their latest PPF 7800 Index


Since July 2007 the Pension Protection Fund has published the latest estimated funding position, on a s179 basis, for the defined benefit schemes in its eligible universe.

 The PPF 7800 index is published on the second Tuesday of every month, and the PPF publishes The Purple Book each year. 

 November 2018 Update

 Highlights

 The aggregate deficit of the 5,588 schemes in the PPF 7800 Index is estimated to have increased over the month to £107.7 billion at the end of October 2018, from a deficit of £38.7 billion at the end of September 2018.
 The funding level decreased from 97.7 per cent at the end of September 2018 to 93.6 per cent.
 Total assets were £1,588.2 billion and total liabilities were £1,695.9 billion.
 There were 3,755 schemes in deficit and 1,833 schemes in surplus.
