Pensions - Articles - ShareAction comment on Ros Altmann as new Pensions Minister

The appointment of Ros Altmann, a pensions expert with a real eye for the interests of savers, is warmly welcomed by ShareAction. Altmann’s long standing commitment to reforming the pensions industry to better serve the interests of savers is widely acknowledged and ShareAction looks forward to working with the Minister on these important goals.

Throughout Altmann’s time in the pensions industry she has highlighted the raw deal that savers have received from the pensions system, in particular the attention she has drawn to rip off charges and misaligned incentives. This agenda aligns with ShareAction’s promotion of greater transparency for savers and more effective scrutiny of providers’ policies and practices.

ShareAction Chief Executive Catherine Howarth says: “Savers will benefit from having a Pensions Minister who sees the complexities of the pensions system and stands in their corner. Prioritising savers’ rights is essential as the government’s pensions reforms bring more and more people into the system. We look forward to working with the Minister who is committed to ensuring that the pensions sector works for the saver as well as industry”.
