General Insurance Article - SunLife launches car insurance service

SunLife continues to expand its general insurance offering with launch of 5 star Defaqto rated car insurance

The insurance has been specially chosen to appeal to people over 50 with competitive pricing, five star cover and benefits such as a 24/7 claims line, uninsured driver promise, medical expenses and contents cover as standard with the comprehensive cover. There is also the option to add additional benefits including breakdown cover and legal protection. The customer experience is also designed to be as straightforward as possible, online and over the phone, in keeping with SunLife’s brand aims of making financial services more affordable and accessible to everyone over 50.

SunLife is partnering with Junction, the affinities business owned by leading digital distributor BGL Group, which also owns comparethemarket.com, one of the UK’s largest and most popular price comparison sites.
Dean Lamble, CEO at SunLife said: “Earlier this year we partnered with Junction to launch our brand new home insurance product. It has already proved extremely popular with existing customers, and we have also welcomed thousands of new customers through online aggregators. So we are delighted to partner with them again to launch our brand new 5* Defaqto rated car insurance product.”

Simon Stanney, General Insurance Director at SunLife added: “The launch of our motor insurance is another example of SunLife’s drive to make financial services simpler and more accessible for over 50s.
“We want to make it as easy as possible for people to get the cover they want, whatever the product, with a ‘retail-like’ experience that means they can feel good about their financial future.”

Ali Crossley, Managing Director at Junction, said: “We share SunLife’s vision of simplifying financial services through brilliant customer journeys, and are delighted that they have chosen us to deliver both their home and their car insurance offerings.”

SunLife is working with a panel of insurers which means customers will benefit from highly competitive pricing. As well as being able to buy online directly and via comparison sites, customers will also be able to talk to knowledgeable advisors who are based in the UK.

Sunlife’s fully comprehensive cover offers protection if your vehicle is vandalised, damaged, stolen or destroyed in a fire, as well as emergency transport or overnight accommodation, medical expenses and contents cover.

There are also five optional extras which can be added to the policy for additional protection - breakdown cover, guaranteed replacement car, no claims discount protection, motor legal protection and keycare. SunLife Car Insurance also offers third party only and third party, fire and theft.

Stanney concludes: “We have worked hard to create three levels of car insurance cover which are all simple, affordable and fit the needs of our target audience of customers aged 50 and over.”
