Towers Watson Appoints Bruce Rodio Senior Investment Advisor, Delegated Investment Services

Strengthening its presence in the delegated investment services market, global professional services company Towers Watson has named industry veteran Bruce Rodio senior investment advisor. Rodio, based in Philadelphia, is responsible for assisting clients with setting investment strategy and coordinating implementation, including customized portfolio construction, manager selection and risk-focused dynamic strategies. He reports to Debra Woida, leader of Towers Watson’s delegated services in the U.S..

“With more than 25 years of experience, particularly in the area of servicing institutional clients with varying goals and objectives, Bruce, through his asset management experience, brings to Towers Watson a strong business acumen and an ability to help clients with the myriad investment challenges they face,” said Woida. She notes that Towers Watson has served clients with delegated services for more than a decade: “We are extremely delighted to have such an outstanding addition to our team, and it underscores our commitment to delegated investment services clients.”

Assets under advice for Towers Watson’s expanding delegated business, which combines investment strategy and asset/liability modeling (ALM) capabilities with the fiduciary management of investment portfolios, are in excess of US$50 billion. In the U.S. alone, Towers Watson’s assets under advice using this approach have increased by over US$5 billion in the past 18 months.

Chris DeMeo, Towers Watson’s head of Investment in North America, said, “In today’s complex and volatile financial environment, some investors may lack the resources, expertise or time to effectively meet investment objectives. Our delegated investment solution can provide timely execution throughout the asset planning cycle and a transparent approach for total pool management, and we look to Bruce to add to our efforts in assisting clients in this area.”

Prior to joining Towers Watson, Rodio was with Aberdeen Asset Management since 2004, where he held senior leadership positions in U.S. institutional distribution and fixed income. At Aberdeen, he also served as a senior relationship manager and fixed income investment specialist and prior to that held similar roles at Morgan Stanley Investment Management, the former Miller Anderson & Sherrerd LLP. Rodio was also previously in institutional fixed income sales with both Morgan Stanley and Credit Suisse.

Rodio earned both a bachelor’s degree in economics and an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of Business of the University of Pennsylvania.
