 "The Tories have placed a great deal of emphasis in the election campaign on ensuring pensioners have security with appropriate flexibility in retirement. Together with the most radical pensions shake-up in generations, this points to the need for a big hitter with Treasury experience, like Priti Patel, to provide some continuity. Of course, it looks like Ros Altman will be on hand to bolster the Government's pensions credibility, but we would also like the incoming Government to reach out to pensions experts farther afield, not just to tap into cross party pensions knowledge.

 "An ageing population will have a profound impact on both public and private sector finances in the decades to come. It is therefore time for the Government to really grasp the nettle and take the politics out of pensions for the good of one nation."
