Articles - Deloitte strengthens insurance practice

Deloitte, the business advisory firm, has appointed Alex Poracchia as a new partner in its general insurance actuarial team. He will provide underwriting, pricing and broader actuarial services to clients, with a focus on the commercial lines insurers and reinsurers.

He joins from Zurich Insurance Group where he was most recently the chief financial officer of the company’s global corporate division. Before that he held several general insurance actuarial roles and pioneered Zurich's risk-based capital framework for general insurance. Alex also spent five years in the London Market where he was the chief pricing actuary at Swiss Re UK.

Gurpreet Johal, general insurance actuarial lead partner at Deloitte, said:

“We are very pleased to welcome Alex to our team. We recognise the challenges our clients face in this tough market and appointing someone of Alex’s calibre and experience will significantly enhance our ability to serve our clients.”
