Articles - Make your nominations now for the 2025 Actuarial Post Awards

We are pleased to announce that the nominations for the Actuarial Post Awards 2025 are now open! This will be the 13th year of running the awards and each year they become more popular with ever increasing numbers nominated and voted upon. This year we welcome back our sponsor, Pension Insurance Corporation plc (PIC), a specialist insurer of defined benefit pension funds, for sponsoring Actuary of the Year 2025, alongside our long- term sponsor partners Bolton Associates, sponsoring GI Actuary of the Year 2025 and Star Actuarial Futures for sponsoring both Stars of the Future 2024 and Sustainability Actuary of the Year 2025.

We would like to thank you once again for joining us as we continue to celebrate and reward the talent and achievements of individuals in the actuarial arena. With 8 awards to be won, make your nominations here for your colleagues, employees and team. Celebrating Actuarial talent since 2012.

Helen Kinloch, PIC Talent Acquisition Manager: “We are incredibly proud to sponsor the Actuary of the Year Award for the second year running, celebrating the exceptional contributions of actuaries across the profession. At PIC, we are home to a number of talented actuaries who all play key roles in a variety of teams, from ALM Securities & Derivatives and Investments to Finance, and enable our organisation to deliver our purpose: to pay the pensions of our current and future policyholders. To provide the very long-term cashflows we need to pay those pensions, we invest in long-term assets, like UK infrastructure and regeneration projects, and these investments in turn support jobs and apprenticeships, drive economic growth, and ultimately create significant social value. We are also committed to fostering a culture that both empowers our actuaries and creates a strong sense of belonging, enabling everyone to thrive and make a meaningful impact at all stages of their actuarial careers. We are very much looking forward to welcoming nominations for the 2025 Award and announcing the winner towards the end of the year!”

Zoe Bolton, Managing Director at Bolton Associates: 2025 heralds our fifteenth year of Bolton Associates, and we look forward to presenting this year’s GI Actuary of the Year award at our Crystal Anniversary party! Wednesday 3rd December 2025: clear your diary if you are lucky enough to be nominated! The Bolton Associates team has grown again this year, introducing our Interim Solutions to the market, and this area seems to be on the rise once again. New entrants to Lloyd’s of London this year have presented exciting new job opportunities for the GI actuarial profession, at various levels. These combined with the ever-increasing number of MGAs, means it continues to be a great time to be an actuary within general insurance! In the Personal Lines space we are seeing a significant increase of AI in the use of claims, systems and processes – this creates a need for a different skillset from the actuaries, so we are seeing that evolution. Portfolio Management and Underwriting roles, as last year, are attracting many qualified actuaries, and the rise of the actuarial CFO continues!

The actuarial qualification continues to provide an excellent grounding and pathway into insurance, and beyond. Do take the time to nominate your colleagues and mentors – this is a well-voted for award, and has a wide reach. We look forward to seeing the nominations, and we will see you all in Liverpool, at GIRO 2025!

Richard Foulds, Associate Partner, Star Actuarial Futures: Star Actuarial Futures is delighted to continue our sponsorship of the Sustainability Actuary of the Year award. 2025 has been a turbulent year for global sustainability, with conflicting opinions across global markets on the importance and hence prioritisation of climate action. Green investment has slowed in the US but accelerated in Europe, creating challenges and opportunities for finance and insurance firms with interests in both markets. Many firms quietly continue funding green projects but avoid labelling them “green” to evade political backlash, a new phenomenon dubbed “greenhushing.”

Actuaries continue to work hard to understand and mitigate the changing risk landscape, integrating sustainability reporting into the BAU function, and developing move sophisticated models to deal with escalating climate losses, insurance affordability issues, and changing capital regulations. To anyone working directly (or indirectly) in this sector – keep up the great work! Congratulations and best of luck to anyone who receives a nomination. I can’t wait to see the shortlist this year.
