PartnerRe Ltd. have announced the appointment of Elizabeth Ilott as Underwriting Manager of the company’s specialist Wholesale division. PartnerRe Wholesale was established in 2013 to serve the growing commercial-insurance needs of SMEs.

Ms Ilott joins PartnerRe from AIG. With an established reputation in the professional liability market, she has led several underwriting teams across EMEA throughout her career. Having first joined AIG's PI team in 2001, she became the Chief Operating Officer for Financial Lines before taking on her most recent role as Head of Professional Liability & Cyber for EMEA. Ms Ilott will report directly to Marc van der Veer, General Manager PartnerRe Wholesale and will be based in London.

Ms Ilott joins a strong team, which aims to build strategic partnerships with MGAs, insurers and brokers focused on small to medium size enterprises (SMEs). The handpicked unit has been formed to provide multi-specialist expertise in the financial lines insurance market. Ms Ilott will lead the international underwriting team based in London, Amsterdam and Paris.

Marc van der Veer, General Manager PartnerRe Wholesale, commented:

“I am very pleased to welcome Ms Ilott to our team. We have made significant progress in our first year in building a portfolio of multiple partners across several territories, including Europe and Middle East. We have an ambitious plan to grow our network of distribution partners by the end of 2015. To do this, we need to maintain our momentum in our current markets, while pushing into others. Ms Ilott will be a great asset to the team, and a key part of helping us achieve those goals”

“Her cross border knowledge, in depth technical understanding of professional lines and leadership experience will make a significant contribution to our continued expansion. She is an established figure, particularly within the PI market, and her knowledge and ability to lead teams will be hugely beneficial.”
